About us

Moreton Bay Fur Meet (or MBFM for short) is an all-ages fur meet that runs regularly in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland.

To ensure the group’s health and well-being, the following rules and guidelines have been established to provide an inclusive environment for all attendees to chat and meet other furs in the fantastic Moreton Bay region.

A healthy Fur Meet starts with you, and we’re grateful you’re interested in being a part of it.

General Chat Rules

  1. You must attend a physical meet before accessing main chat so admins can:
    1. Ensure you are a good fit for the group and its values.
    2. Verify that your user account on Telegram is in good standing upon joining.
    3. Help you understand your responsibilities as a member.
  2. Chat is over 18s only.
  3. English SFW discussions with an 18+ flavour are welcome in chat.
  4. Zero tolerance (immediately enforced by meet and chat permaban) for any:
    1. harassment,
    2. hate speech,
    3. vilification,
    4. victimisation,
    5. defamation, including libel (written) or slander (spoken)
    6. drama from other chats being introduced into chat interactions between MBFM chat members,
    7. rage-baiting or dredging up history in group chat interactions.
  5. If you can’t participate in the chat maturely, you will be:
    1. Kicked for the first offense with a 7-day cool-down and given a final warning.
    2. Permanently banned for further breaches.
  6. Ensure you have a username set (for verification purposes), or you may be kicked.
  7. Set a profile picture so the admins don’t think you’re a nasty bot that got through.
  8. Don’t spam!
    1. Features like links/reflinks/channels/groups/phone numbers can make the chat overwhelming for some.
    2. You’ll be warned by the bot if you’re stepping over the line.
  9. Limit discussions of politics, religion, and AI in this group, and remain friendly if they arise.

IRL Fur Meet participation

  1. Fursuits do not imply consent. Unwelcome interactions reported between members to admins will result in restrictions being placed on individuals.
  2. Should you have any concerns while attending a meet, look for the Admin team wearing Yellow MBFM bands.
  3. Zero-tolerance rules defined in chat also apply to IRL meets.
  4. You represent the entire fandom when you wear a suit in public.
    1. Conduct yourself with your very best behavior at our public meets.
    2. Poor behavior reported while admins are not present will affect your membership.
  5. If the group is holding a meeting at a private venue, any member who attends is a guest of that venue.
    1. You agree to comply with any directions or orders from the venue’s owners or staff.
    2. Failure to do so will affect your ability to participate in meets.
  6. Photography and video recording are always welcome at meets (remember the rules about seeking consent).
  7. Minors will be present at and around our meet locations:
    1. Be well-versed in the rules regarding photographing minors.
    2. Ask for consent to photograph minors.
    3. Ask group admins if you are unsure.
  8. Do not bring anything that could be mis-identified as a weapon to our meets. We operate in public parks with children so your discretion is expected.
  9. If you can’t responsibly participate in the meet, you will be:
    1. Asked to leave for a first offense and given a final warning.
    2. Permanently banned for further breaches.

Age restrictions and duty of care responsibilities

MBFM offers an all-ages meet opportunity for young-furs over 16 years of age, as well as adult furs.

Young furs under 16 have the opportunity to attend meets, provided certain conditions are met by their adult caregiver.

  1. MBFM takes matters of guest safety very seriously and prioritizes access and safety for Under 18 attendees as a prime meet directive.
  2. If you are under 16, you must be accompanied by a family member or support worker aged 21 or older to attend a meet.
    1. Your family member or support worker assumes full responsibility for your safety and well-being.
    2. Your family member or support worker assumes full accountability for your actions.
    3. Negative actions or rule infractions on your behalf may prevent you from attending future meets.
    4. You are encouraged to participate in group walks, but please note that you may be photographed or videoed while doing so. Ensure that your family member or support worker gives consent for this to occur.
  3. Young children are welcome with their furry families, with these conditions:
    1. Under full supervision at all times.
    2. Their behavior remains appropriate.
    3. Their behavior reflects on your standing in the MBFM community.

Hope to see you in chat and at a meet real soon!
